Boscia Bright White Mask

While sheet masks continues to be my personal favourite (easy, cooling, comforting, no mess), I find that they only provide short term visible results. Makes u glow one day, and everything turns normal the next day.Thank god for science and technology, there are always other alternatives when you pretty much get bored of the usual same stuff...

For those who really know me, they would know that my favourite place to spend time in KLCC would either be Bakin' Boys, for their lovely muffins and cookie milkshakes, or Starbucks for pure coffee-holic experience (sorry CBTL, you don't really satisfy me enough...) or Mothercare (Ammar!), or other than that, is Isetan or Sephora (yup, you guessed it).

 

Btw, is it just me or that most Sephora skincares not sold in Malaysian department stores are pretty much priced higher than what you pay overseas? 

Ponder ponder ponder...

Nevertheless, I'm always prowling inside Sephora everytime I'm in KLCC. Yes, I'm only woman.

At this point of time, I was looking for a mask. Sure, peels have helped me a lot, but then again, too much exposure towards Glycolic Acid is not advisable.

Plus, skin caring is a marathon, not a sprint... so I don't wanna lose steam awal-awal, and become malas later on he he he....

I spoke to one SA, and as expected, she pointed out on my spots and unevenness. I gave her a sob sob story of my unexpected break out with the C serum (yes, you know which one), that caused me to broke in so many pimples, hence loads of acne scars.

The SA informed me that at this point, using serums to treat the visible acne scars is not enough. I needed to use some sorta exfoliation + brightening product to 'lift off' the dark marks and to peel off the dead cells first, in order to let the serum absorb into the skin.

(hey, isn't that what I've been doing??? Nevermind...dengar saja lah...)

So she recommended me this peel-off mask that helps to exfoliate and peel off the dead skin:-

Sesungguhnya, aku kurang menggemari peel off masks. They're messy, hard to remove and can cause dryness. But the SA convinced me that mask ini tidak mengeringkan. Claims that it helps to increase hydration.

Plus, for a big tube, only costs me RM90 sumthng...Menarik menarik....

That's what I thought.Even if you earn as much as Tyra Banks, of perhaps Kimora, I'm pretty sure both of them had gone through some serious money issues at least once in their lifetime...(Hey, we all started somewhere somehow teehee...!)

Well... If you ask for opinion from a Beauty Junkie like myself...I'd say don't compromise on beauty, no matter what.

Why?

Because once you fall out of your usual system / regime...you'd fall out of it for quite a loooooongggg time...

And then, you'd start to become malas...

And then, you'd start to not care anymore once you live without them...

THEN...you'd wonder what's wrong with you...

People do comment I blog only on expensive stuff... of which most of us in the normal society can't afford everyday.

Do I?

I'd beg to differ and say that I blog on what I believe is USEFUL and is not HAZARDOUS to be used.... Like I've said, Knives and Needles are a No-no for me...

Sure, they are loads of skincare out there that people do claim that they work wonders....
BUT ARE THEY SAFE? (Alarm Bell Rings...)

As for myself...I don't blog about anything of which I feel is unsafe...

So coming back to a product I discovered at Guardian...

Oslee Rosehip Whitening Mask

This is NOT me, I took this picture from the Internet, because I look too weird in the mask...Unlike this cute lady hehe

                         

Bought: February 2011

Consistency: Thin sheets, smells of Rosehip oil...

Application:

Use on weekly basis, spread the mask all over your face. After 20 minutes, remove and rub in the excess liquid into your skin...You don't have to wash off or use moisturizer after this.

 WHAT I LIKE?
The smell of Rosehip...heaven! Keeps me feeling calm...

WHAT I DON'T LIKE
I don't really fancy sheet masks, to be honest. I find them a bit wasteful... since the contents of the liquid on the masks are usually in excess...

RESULTS

You could see your skin glow...for a while after that... claims to help with pigmentation and dark spots, but I haven't seen any improvements on that.

 

WOULD I BUY IT AGAIN?
Overall, its an affordable mask. It does make your skin look slightly clearer and smoother after use..but this effect lasts for a short period of time. However, I haven't experienced any harmful effects whatsover... I'd say its a nice addition to have it in your stash of skincare products when you're on the low...hey, we can't afford to be Queens all the time can we? :)


                         

REN's Glycolactic Skin Renewal Peel Mask

Having read about this product being one of the best peel masks that users have used, of course it's only mutual to feel intrigued. Does it work?

Aside from REN's Jojoba Scrub, I decided to make a purchase of this as well. The SE also pushed me to purchase REN's Multi-Mineral Detox Mask as well...said that it would complement this product as well.

Woah! Hold your horses there!

 I pat myself proudly on my back for having the resistance from purchasing the Detox Mask as well, resulting to a holey burnt in my pocket. That's the beauty of shopping in the middle of the month, love! You just stop cause you're broke! :D

Anyway, this mask had been receiving rave reviews from prestigious magazines like InStyle, naming it as one of the Best Beauty Buys in 2008.

Convincing? I kid you not.

So, there goes another purchase from REN. However, compared to REN's Jojoba scrub, this one's pretty small. According to the SE, it helps with acne scars and skin resurfacing as well and safe enough to be used as an overnight mask.
The main ingredients that makes up this mask are  four fruit-acid-complex (lactic, glycolic, tartaric and citric) and papain enzyme.

Papain = Papaya

Yikes! And I'm allergic to Papayas! Gave me bad skin allergies, taken internally or externally!

But during that time, I was very much enticed on the acne scars, dark marks, smoother skin talk.

So allergy or no allergy? I bought it anyway.

Verdicts?

Bought: In July 2010

Consistency: With a pump attached to it, its hygenic. But, the consistency is a mix of grainy, sticky slimy, thick orange liquid...The grainy parts are actually small jelly crystals. Smells orangey...I seriously don't dig the smell, even if I do love orange cake or orange juices. 

Application:

To be worn like once or twice a week. This sticky and slimy thingy is a bit of a mess to deal with. Once you've applied on your face, it feels a bit itchy and tingly. I don't mind the tingling part, but I don't think I could tolerate the itchiness if it lasted more than 5 minutes. After 20 minutes, rinse off.

RESULTS

Hmm...Can't really tell any difference really.

WHAT I LIKE ?

I guess the case is small and compact. Easy to bring for travelling, and I suppose it's useful if you need a quick fix on looking for a fresh face before an event.

WHAT I DON'T LIKE ?

It's sticky and gooey. Plus its hard to wash off. You practically need to use a cleanser again after you've washed this off. And that would rip off the "supposedly" good effects of the mask.

WOULD I BUY IT AGAIN?

Nope. I don't see any "glowy" effects so far and it hasn't helped me in any way. I don't know whether the ingredients inside actually does what's it supposed to do. Plus, I don't really fancy the "Oral Rehydration Salt - Orange Flavoured Smell" and the itch it gives me. Made me develop some rashes in certain parts of my face.
